WHO IS IT FOR ?

WHAT WILL BE LEARNT

Apprentices will develop skills and knowledge in key areas such as Duty of Care, diversity and inclusion, communication, safeguarding, championing health and wellbeing. The apprenticeship will help to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the worker, including:

  

  • Safeguarding and protection  

  • Ways of working 

  • Mental capacity 

  • Restrictive practice 

  • Duty of care 

  • Effective communication 

  • Handling information 

  • Person-centred practice 

  • Promoting choice and independence 

  • Health, safety and wellbeing 

  • Equality, diversity, inclusion and human rights 

  • Continuous personal development 

  • Managing  personal wellbeing 

The Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship prepares individuals to take on frontline roles in caring for vulnerable adults in various settings such as residential homes, day care centers, and private homes. These workers not only support adults with their care needs but also lead and supervise other care staff, ensuring high standards of care and promoting independence and well-being. The course covers essential skills like communication, safeguarding, and professional development, and leads to a Level 3  Diploma in Adult Care.

Apprenticeship assessment will include the completion of a situational judgement test, answered through a multiple-choice exercise, and a professional discussion.

 

Both assessments can be completed online or in-person. These components will be graded with a Pass, Merit, or Distinction. The apprentice must complete the Care Certificate and the Diploma.  They will also work towards Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English, if applicable.

Entry Requirements: 
The apprentice must be at least 16 years old, have a valid DBS check and be employed in the care sector.
 

Duration:

12 months with up to three months for apprenticeship assessment.
 

Cost: 

£4,000, funded via the employer Levy Account, Levy transfers or Department for Education co-funding


Career Progression
An Adult Care Worker apprenticeship can lead you into many roles including senior and leadership roles, specialist care, management positions, or further training into nursing and health professions. It’s a flexible pathway with real opportunities to grow, lead, and make a difference. 

Entry Requirements:

The apprentice must be at least 19 years old, have a valid DBS check and be employed in the care sector.

 

Duration: 

15 months with up to three months for apprenticeship assessment. 
 

Cost:

 £4,000, funded via the employer Levy Account, Levy transfers or Department for Education co-funding 
 

Career Progression:

As a Lead Adult Care Worker, you can progress into senior leadership or management roles, specialise in areas such as dementia, autism, or end-of-life care, or move into advanced training for nursing and allied health professions. It’s a role that builds leadership skills and opens doors to long-term career progression.
