WHO IS IT FOR ?

WHAT WILL BE LEARNT

Apprentices will develop skills and knowledge in key areas such as child and young person development, partnership working, assessing needs, communication, safeguarding, and developing an outcome focused service. The apprenticeship will help to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours of the worker, including:

  

  • Understanding development of children and young people  

  • Safeguarding and protecting children and young people  

  • Understanding how to support children and young people who have experienced harm or abuse 

  • Effective communication and information handling  

  • Support risk management in  

  • Assessment and planning with children and young people  

  • Understanding how to support positive outcomes for children and young people  

  • Support attachment and positive relationships for children and young people  

  • Support the well-being and resilience of children and young people  

  • Support children and young people to achieve their learning potential 

  • Support children and young people to manage their health 

  • Support the development of socially aware behaviour with children and young people  

  • Engage in professional development  

  • Support the rights, diversity and equality of children and young people  

  • Participate in teams to benefit children and young people

The Level 4 Children, Young People, and Families Practitioner Apprenticeship is a comprehensive program   designed to equip practitioners with the skills and knowledge required to support children, young people, and families in various settings.

Apprenticeship assessment will include the completion of a competence interview and an observation of working practices.   

 

Both assessments can be completed online or in-person.  These components will be graded with a Pass, Merit, or Distinction. The apprentice must complete the Care Certificate and the Diploma.  They will also work towards Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English, if applicable.

Entry Requirements: 
The apprentice must be at least 16 years old, have a valid DBS check and be employed in the care sector.
 

Duration:

12 months with up to three months for apprenticeship assessment.
 

Cost: 

£4,000, funded via the employer Levy Account, Levy transfers or Department for Education co-funding


Career Progression
An Adult Care Worker apprenticeship can lead you into many roles including senior and leadership roles, specialist care, management positions, or further training into nursing and health professions. It’s a flexible pathway with real opportunities to grow, lead, and make a difference. 

Entry Requirements: 

The apprentice must be at least 19 years old, have a valid DBS check and be employed in a role that enables them to demonstrate the skills, knowledge and behaviours to meet the requirements of the qualification

 

Duration: 

18 months with up to three months for apprenticeship assessment. 
 

Cost:

£6,000, funded via the employer Levy Account, Levy transfers or Department for Education co-funding 
 

Career Progression: 

As a Children, Young People and Families Practitioner, you can progress into senior or management roles, specialise in areas such as safeguarding, mental health, or family support, or move into social work, counselling, or allied health professions. This role develops your expertise and leadership while opening doors to long-term career growth.
